 ABOUT

CO-DESIGN YOUR PLACE SUMMIT 2021 is about sharing knowledge and best practices regarding empowering young people to be changemakers, designers and leaders in the urban regeneration.

During two days of workshops and lectures you can find out more about:
  • what is Co-design Your Place program?
  • how to engage youths in social challenges?
  • how to use Service Design and Speculative Design in regeneration?
  • how to build sustainable communities around regeneration?

Participants in CO-DESIGN YOUR PLACE SUMMIT 2021 will come away with:
  • Knowledge of the tools and processes that can help organisations benefit from their regeneration processes
  • Insights into how non-profit organisations, local governments, and social movements can use Service Design to organise and empower youths in regeneration
  • A better understanding of the "TO MULTIPLY MODEL" -  framework for social inclusion in regeneration through service design methodology
  • Examples of how Service Design and inclusion tools are being used to strengthen civil society, communities and the social connections between people.

Like many of you, we are adapting our approaches and operations in response to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In that spirit, we are pleased to announce that, this year, CO-DESIGN YOUR PLACE SUMMIT will be an entirely virtual convening.
The Summit is a part of Co-design Your Place project implemented in partnership with the Stable Foundation, the University of the Arts London, London College of Communications and the Station - Student Innovation House in Copenhagen. Activities were founded on Key Action 2 of the Erasmus+ program, “Strategic partnerships. Cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices.”

We hope you will join us on 05-06 February 2021.

Duration: 90 min

How might we envision the future of our services, places and communities collectively? Which tools and artefacts might better enable us to open spaces for dialogue and new narratives? How can we bring a critical light about our present realities by working on the future?

During this workshop, we will see some examples of regeneration and speculative design projects in different locations, and we will work collectively applying one speculative design tool to create a new scenario of the future in a specific location.Together, we will explore how speculative design can be applied to regeneration projects through a service design perspective, using speculation as a method to analyse our present, identify challenge and opportunities, expand our imagination
and design new solutions working collaboratively.

Presentation: Case studies and introduction to the tool [15 min]
Creating a provocation: Group work [40 min]
Swapping Scenarios: Group mix and peer-to-peer feedback [20 min]

In the workshop, we will:

  • Describe and put into context what a sustainable community can be

  • Share our experiences with community building

  • Explore how we can develop already formed communities into being more sustainable and how we can develop new where that’s not possible

No knowledge on either sustainability or community building needed and the workshop is both for you who have no experience with community building and you who lead and have several years experience.
